nathan's first 50k

nathan's first 50k

this past weekend we went down to chattanooga for nathan's first 50k trail race, the rock/creek stump jump. yep. thats right, 31 miles on trails with 6,929 ft of elevation gain. it was so great to be together with all of our family to cheer on nate. he ended up finishing 11th overall (out of 300) and 3rd in his age group. totally insane for anyone to do that…. much less someone with brain cancer, in the middle of a clinical trial, running his first 50k with a morton's neuroma. to God be the glory for all nathan is able to do.

after the race, cal wanted to get back home in time for the UT vs. GA game.... which of course turned out to be one of the greatest games of all time. if you saw my snapchats of cal, he's sorry. haha! and no he doesn't typically talk like that in front of the kids.

on friday, right before we left for chattanooga, my new SoYoung diaper bag arrived. i was so pumped to have it in time for the weekend. i had been wanting a diaper bag that looked more "filsonish" and it was perfect. even better is that it's unisex enough for cal.

sunday we decided to head downtown and try a new taco place that we had yet to try called chivo. i got the brussel sprouts, white beans, and street corn.... oh and of course some chips and queso. the only thing i didn't love was the beans. great atmosphere. great food. if you are in Knoxville, i'd definitely recommend it. after we left, we could hear some music in market square and walked up on the hola hora festival. there was a band playing that looked and sounded so much like santana that we were literally googling trying to find out (it wasn't santana. just a good cover band.) we walked around and checked out all the booths. naturally the park ranger's fishing booth was a favorite for simms....

we ended the weekend with homemade chicken and dumplings, which I'll have on the blog soon! it was such an amazing weekend. honestly, one of the best i can remember in quite some time. we are now in my busiest month of the whole year, so it's good to get some time off. looking forward to the museum of Appalachia fall homecoming this weekend...one of my favorite fall traditions! hope everyone has a great monday!
